MONDAY

Marvelous Monday! We spent the morning experimenting with mixing colors to get orange for our pumpkins. We talked more about the farm and our field trip. Aftrer we read a book about cows, we made a chart showing what we know and what we want to know more about. At circle time we played a farm animal counting game, and we sang 'Take me out to the Barnyard!'

WEDNESDAY

WACKY WEDNESDAY: Lamb and sheep day-- We traced our hands on black paper to make the legs of a sheep. Then we used glue and cotton balls to create a body. More nursery rhyme time, Baa Baa Black Sheep, of course!
During morning meeting we talked more about mixing colors and everyone took a bag and a "blob" of yellow and red paint to squish around and make orange.
At circle time we wrote a class story about our trip to the Pumpkin Patch (I will post it tomorrow) We read a story about sheep and we made a web of things we know about sheep. Then we compared it to the one we did about cows. We found several things that overlap- they both eat grain, give milk, live on a farm. The kids are working hard at comparisons and contrasts.
TOMORROW the kids are welcome to bring a stuffed farm animal for some Barnyard FUN!
And we sang Take me out to the Barnyard- this is quickly becoming a class favorite

TUESDAY

Terrific Tuesday- how exciting- our 1st field trip! The bus ride was really fun. When we got to Homestead Farms we got a tour of the farm and a visit with some animals. We even fed the goats! Then it was off to the bumpy hayride, and we were dropped off at the pumpkin patch. Everyone picked a pumpkin (the rule was pick one you can carry) We took our pumpkins back to the bus and had a snack of apple and crackers on the way back to school. Have fun with your pumpkins. Be creative!!!

THURSDAY

The big red barn-- everyone got a chance to paint the barn for our animals. We built barns out of blocks and did a barnyard dance! We sang some new songs and learned some new verses to Baa Baa Black Sheep (cluck cluck red hen, Moo Moo Brown Cow...)

We had moooovement today and we played our favorite game, the car wash.

FRIDAY

Down on the Farm- We worked together to make a barn from a cardboard box. It looks great and our animals  seem happy there.
During Morning Meeting we had a "serious time" talk about listening to each other and helping each other out. Then we practiced cleaning up as a team.
We had so much fun preparing for Jacob A's Kabbalat Shabbat. We sang Put the chicken in the Pot, and If it's time to Light the Candles Go Like This. Jacob's mom told the story of the 3 Bears  and Jacob showed us the pictures. Thanks to Jacob's family for coming and bringing such a wonderful K Shabbat
Have a great weekend.
